A secure FTP site containing the most recent metadata (citations, headers, DOIs and abstracts) from HighWire-hosted journal articles, including online-only articles from HighWire-affiliated publishers.

Format:
Deposits to the FTP site are tarred, gzipped archives containing XML files generated against the PubMed DTD format.
Frequency:
Metadata will generally be deposited to the FTP site as soon as an article is published online, and will be held in the repository for 30 days from posting.
Eligibility:
The FTP site is available to any secondary publisher, subscription agent, or library that agrees to follow a simple set of usage guidelines for downloading data (see below).
Cost:
There is no charge to retrieve content from this repository.

USAGE GUIDELINES FOR DOWNLOADING DATA
Most material in the HighWire metadata repository is from copyrighted publications of the respective copyright claimants. Users of the HighWire metadata repository are solely responsible for compliance with any copyright restrictions and are referred to the publication data appearing in the bibliographic citations, as well as to the copyright notices appearing in the original publications, all of which are hereby incorporated by reference. Those who search HighWire databases may download for personal use and may provide others with a single copy of downloaded data.
Those considering downloading data for redistribution should obtain an opinion from legal counsel for any use planned for the author-generated abstracts in the HighWire Press® metadata repository to ensure compliance with intellectual property laws. HighWire Press cannot provide advice about copyright issues.
Additional details:
The data in HighWire Current will be identical to the data provided to PubMed.
Data will generally be posted to the HighWire Current FTP repository immediately after an issue is published.
Data will be removed from the repository after 30 days of availability.
Highwire Current users can locate new content by date or journal id, or sign up for etocs if they prefer an active notification mechanism.
Very limited technical support will be available to users of HighWire Current. We expect that users of the FTP directory service will be experienced in using FTP tools.
